LiveWell Colorado

LiveWell Colorado (LWC) is a statewide initiative aimed at reducing obesity rates and related chronic diseases by increasing physical activity and promoting healthy foods. LWC started as a partnership between Colorado Health Foundation, Kaiser Permanente and the Colorado Dept of Public Health and Environment. LWC works with communities to promote healthy eating and active living through funding for policies, programs and environmental changes at the grassroots level.

Healthy Lifestyle La Plata taking multi-pronged approach to a “healthy community”

To empower and support Durango and La Plata County in becoming an interconnected community where citizens and visitors have access to affordable, local, nutritous and culturally appropriate food girl in treeand are empowered to live a healthy, active and sustainable lifestyle.

Healthy Lifestyle La Plata (HLLP) is a coalition of health & wellness professionals who are working to create a healthy,

active and sustainable community for its citizens and many visitors. It is comprised of three subcommittee’s, each with a specific wellness focus – Healthy Local Foods, Worksite Wellness and Active Community Environment.

train and bicyclersHLLP received LiveWell Colorado grant funding starting in 2006 that will continue until 2013. This funding has enabled HLLP to set in motion goals based on healthy eating and increasing physical activity among target populations, namely the working poor, men aged 45-64, children/youth and seniors. As of the end of 2009, LiveWell funding has totaled almost $700,000.00 dollars brought into our community to promote healthy lifestyle behaviors.
